Last season, Seong-Hyun “Jjonak” Bang took the Overwatch League by storm, helping propel the New York Excelsior to a league-best 34-6 record and singlehandedly redefining the impact of the support role. His outstanding effort landed him the 2018 MVP Award presented by T-Mobile.

The MVP award is once again up for grabs, and we’ve got all the details on how you can get involved with a new selection and voting process this year.

On July 25, we will reveal the top five MVP candidates. The five candidates will be nominated through ballots submitted by the general managers of all 20 Overwatch League teams. Fans can then vote for one of the five players that they think most deserves the honor.

Voting will be held on Twitter and on the Overwatch League Twitch channel from July 25–August 25 (the end of Stage 4). You can vote on Twitter using the hashtag #OWLMVP and either the Twitter handle or Battle.net name of your MVP candidate. For example, you could vote for Jjonak on Twitter using #OWLMVP Jjonak or #OWLMVP @JJoNakLove. Visit our team pages in case you need help with any of the player names! Fans will be able to keep track of voting results on a leaderboard on overwatchleague.com during the voting period.

We’ll then combine your votes with final ballots from press that covers the league, team coaches, GMs, league casters, and analysts to determine a final winner. Fan votes will count for 25 percent of the final vote.

The winner of the 2019 MVP presented by T-Mobile will be announced during the season playoffs, which start Thursday, August 29, at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles.

Throughout the rest of Stages 3 and 4, keep an eye out for weekly MVP Checkpoint segments during live broadcasts, where our casters and analysts will discuss the contenders, and in early August we’ll have video profiles for all five finalists. We’ll also have additional content on our social channels and on overwatchleague.com.

Stay tuned and make your voice heard!
